P.A.U.S.E - Preventing Prescription Pill Abuse/Addiction and Usage through Sharing and Education.
Pain is REAL! Yet, depending upon the cause, there are multiple ways to manage pain. Just like penicillin has been overprescribed as the “magic bullet” for all types of infections, narcotic pain medication has been overprescribed for pain management.
P.A.U.S.E. is built on 3 principles:
1.Interpersonal Sharing,
2.Patient Informed/Centered, and
3.Multimodal Pain Management.
Originally, P.A.U.S.E. was just focused on substance abuse. In April 2019, Oak Hill expanded P.A.U.S.E. to include mental health:
P - Pay attention to my body, thoughts, and feelings;
A - Assess what is activating me;
U - Understand the roots of my feelings;
S - Set boundaries, separate, ensure safety; and
E - Empathize with those involved.
Our common geographic area links us.
Our common values connect us.
Our working together binds us.
There are so many ways to support our mission. Contact us to find out more about volunteer opportunities, fundraising events, and ways to share about our work to your friends and family.
